The best coffee is fresh coffee.
Cumaica coffee is always sold and served fresh. However, there is no point in buying fresh roasted coffee if you can't retain that fresh flavor over several weeks. Preserving the fresh flavor of your favorite coffee takes some extra care.
A few things to know:
Grinding your coffee for the perfect brew:
There are two ways to grind your coffee, you can use a blade grinder or a burr grinder.
A blade grinder works much like a blender to chop the beans down into usable grounds. Unfortunately, this method can lead to an overly fine grind where flavor is lost from over extraction. The resulting brew becomes bitter and raw. Alternatively, beans can be under-ground and thus flavor is left unextracted leading to a weak brew. All blade grinders chop beans unevenly and lead to relatively uneven extraction.
Coffee purists will tell you the best flavor comes from a burr grinder. Burr grinders ensure uniform grounds as beans are crushed to a specific size without the excess heat and abuse that comes from a blade grinder. Evenly ground coffee yields uniformed extraction.
